As Instructional Technology Coaches, we understand the intense pressure teachers are under to constantly innovate and deliver results for their students. Unfortunately, teachers infrequently have all the time they need to complete their daily responsibilities, let alone to improve and reflect on their practice. Many divisions (including ours) offer high-quality professional development opportunities, but teachers often cannot fit these classes into their packed schedules.
We realized that Twitter offers an amazing platform for teachers to build their own Personal Learning Network (PLN) and enhance their skills on their terms. Teachers can learn in whatever amount of time they have, on a schedule that works for them. All three of us have made valuable connections and have learned a great deal from the PLNs we created on Twitter and hope to inspire other educators to do the same.
